Climate-neutral operations

Since 2022, all of the ORIOR Group’s Swiss sites are operated climate-neutrally and are certified accordingly by myclimate.

The ORIOR companies Fredag, Le Patron, Pastinella, Biotta, Rapelli, Albert Spiess and Möfag are covered by the label and thus express their responsibility for climate protection.

The "climate-neutral operations" label takes into account all emissions from processes that are necessary to keep our company running - such as energy consumption for heating and cooling, our electricity consumption, but also, for example, the emissions from our business trips. We strive to reduce these emissions ourselves as much as possible. The greenhouse gas emissions that have not (yet) been avoided are offset by climate protection projects.

Supported climate protection projects

ORIOR choses to support four projects in different parts of the world: In the two sustainable cooker projects in Burundi and in Bangladesh, efficient cooking cookers are distributed to underprivileged families. The cookers not only have the advantage of emitting less CO2 than conventional stoves, they also protect health by reducing air pollution and save the owners valuable time that they would otherwise spend collecting firewood. In the water treatment project in Uganda, about 50,000 people in rural areas are supplied with clean drinking water by disinfecting the water in the sun and checking it with a solar-powered meter. And in the biomass project in Brazil, natural gas-based technology for a paper mill was replaced with biomass firing, replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, and relying on sustainably grown wood biomass. All projects are verified by the Gold Standard and, in addition to CO2 savings, also contribute to the achievement of other SDGs that are of great importance to ORIOR.
