Swiss food group ORIOR is selling its transport services unit Lineafresca to Murpf Group, the Hägendorf-based specialist in food storage and transport logistics.
Lineafresca has until now been part of the ORIOR Group, where it has been responsible for local distribution of fresh and chilled products. Meanwhile, ORIOR has used Murpf Group as its main transport partner. From now on, however, ORIOR Group will be concentrating on its core business of fresh convenience foods and refined meats, so Lineafresca is being sold to Murpf. By deepening its existing partnership with Murpf, ORIOR aims to optimize the way it gets its products to market. The transaction will be completed on 28 May 2014. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
CEO Remo Hansen says: "Lineafresca is well positioned as a Swiss-wide logistics provider, with 28 vehicles and a combined chilled and frozen transport chain. Murpf Group's fleet is around five time as big, offering Lineafresca a better environment for its future development. We will be continuing and deepening our proven partnership with Murpf as part of a strategic alliance." Thomas Murpf, Managing Director of F. Murpf AG, and his team are looking forward to the new arrangements: "Lineafresca fits perfectly in our Group. Its specialisation in local distribution rounds out our overall transport offering very well."
